Gain Support for Your Lube Program

To get management support for your lubrication program, make sure people, especially management, are aware of how the program is contributing to overall equipment reliability. There are many ways to do this, such as setting up a newsletter, using an intranet site, sending out a periodic email or just posting a paper on a bulletin board in a high-traffic area. Whatever method is used, highlight successes like good catches or money saved. This will go a long way in helping your program grow and obtaining funding for equipment and training. Exclude dirt & water with Xclude™ desiccant breathers

Gearboxes breathe, but debris & moisture can enter with each breath of air. Over time, contaminated oil will accelerate wear and lead to costly repairs and downtime. LE’s Xclude™ desiccant breathers are the solution.

Signs of Lubricant Starvation

Signs of Lubricant Starvation

Once a mechanical system becomes depleted of lubricant, surface-to-surface contact will occur. When two surfaces slide or rub together, friction is produced, and from friction comes heat. Find out what other signs can indicate your machine is suffering from lubricant starvation as well as the most effective way to combat this condition.

How Procedures Improve Reliability

From "Compressors: How to Achieve High Reliability & Availability":

To be reliable, reproducible and to give continuity to compressor repair, compressor owners must adhere to procedures. Continuity means passing on knowledge to successive generations of workers so as not to repeat errors. In general, the manufacturer can provide the details that cover the routine maintenance inspection (during plant turnarounds), or the disassembly, stacking and balancing of centrifugal compressor rotors if performance enhancing or throughput increasing ("uprating") are involved.
