Tip for Using Anti-seize Compound

If an anti-seize compound is used when putting high-speed, oil-filled bearing housings back together, be careful not to apply too much. If an excessive amount is applied, it can enter the housing faces during torqueing and make its way into the oil bath. This can bring about early bearing failure due to the incompatibility of the oil and the anti-seize compound mixing. (Mark Speirs, BHP Billiton)

Analyzing Wear Debris in Motor Oils

A single oil sample can provide information on the health of the lubricant, the health of the engine and the contaminants that are present. However, routine analysis and developing trends can paint a more accurate picture of what is actually happening inside the machine and the lubricant.
