Consider Contamination Control Before Buying Hydraulic Equipment

Consider Contamination Control Before Buying Hydraulic Equipment

These days, best-practice contamination control is more like an accepted pre-condition for reliability. Given contemporary advances in technology for excluding and removing contaminants, it could be said that failure to control contamination is a failure of machine design rather than a failure of maintenance.

New Oil is Costing You

Typical new oils meet specs for performance and viscosity—but not cleanliness. That third spec is compromising your equipment and costing your business.

10 Ways to Improve Lubricant Storage and Handling

Many facilities are unaware of the danger improper lubricant storage and handling practices create regarding equipment reliability and lifecycles. Proper lubrication is not only about the right amount-at the right time-at the right place, it is also about keeping lubricants clean, cool and properly identified.

The Four States of Water in Oil

The Four States of Water in Oil

Water is a highly destructive contaminant. It’s important to know how it behaves and coexists when it invades our oil, machine or system. The understanding of its coexistence has evolved over the years from the initial perception of two states, then three and now four.

Lube Tip

If your supplier is re-using your drums, you might ask them to provide you with documentation showing that the drums are being reconditioned using a standardized procedure including periodic inspection tests. If the supplier
cannot provide this information, you might consider either specifying that all products be sent in new drums, help them find a viable reconditioning resource, suggest that liners be used or find a new supplier.
