3 Red Flags in Lubricant Supplier Agreements

3 Red Flags in Lubricant Supplier Agreements

Like most businesses, a lubrication supplier’s top priority is their bottom line. That’s not to say that suppliers are trying to rip you off, but sometimes they may be selling you things you don’t actually need.

What Should I Look For?

 Better Than a Bull's-eye!

Most bull’s-eye level gauges confirm oil volume but don’t identify root causes and symptoms of machine failure. Luneta’s Condition Monitoring Pod™ allows early detection of abnormal machine and lubricant health conditions.

While many others teach about concepts they've only read about, Dr. Nathan Wright has spent his career doing the hard work of plant maintenance. Now he trains end-users who are directly responsible for plant reliability.

Using Centrifugal Separators for Oil Reclamation

Using Centrifugal Separators for Oil Reclamation

Centrifuges work on the principle of high gravity. In short, anything that is heavier than the fluid will be forced out, regardless of size. With these devices, even small differences in specific gravity are amplified to such a degree that submicron particles quickly settle out.

Water Glycol - Fire-Resistant Hydraulic Fluids

Fire-resistant fluids include synthetics such as phosphate esters or ester-mineral blends and water-based formulas such as water-oil emulsions or water-glycols. Water glycol fluids have proven to be an excellent fire-resistant hydraulic fluid option.

Lube Tip

When changing a filter element inside a housing, drain all of   the oil from the filter housing first. There should be a drain port near the bottom of the housing as well as a port on the top to let air in. This procedure will eliminate debris that was trapped in the filter element from rinsing out when pulled through the oil in a filled housing. This debris will get a free run at your system when restarted because it is already on the downstream side of the new filter.
