There are several common road blocks to implementing an excellent program, for example, procuring the necessary resources. I wish I had a dollar for every time I’ve been told “I know we need that, but my boss will never approve it.” For those who don’t have a blank check book, acquiring these resources often requires some creative salesmanship.

With Schaeffer’s hydraulic fluids, you decide when to stop working—not your equipment. Our hydraulic fluids reduce friction, maintain viscosity and dissipate heat, allowing your equipment to run cooler and longer.

The main concern with this practice is the influence the used oil has on the health of the blended new oil charge. If the used oil was low in volume and relatively healthy, the performance and life expediency of the new oil blend can be acceptable. Conversely, if the used oil was contaminated and/or heavily degraded from extended use, the performance and life expectancy of the new oil blend can be sharply affected. For instance, it takes less than 5% oxidized oil mixed with new oil to reduce the oxidation stability of the new oil by more than 90%.

"What gets measured gets managed” is a popular quote from business guru Peter Drucker. While it may seem obvious that key performance indicators (KPIs) or metrics play an important role in the success of a lubrication program, what is not as apparent is defining the best metrics for assessing the program’s current status and guiding it to the desired level. This article will explain how to select the right KPIs and implement them effectively.

When labeling oil sample bottles prior to taking samples, consider identifying the bottle caps as well as the labels. A felt-tip pen works well. This will save a lot of time as you will not have to pick up each bottle to tell which bottle you need next.
